It has been another busy year and again and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for the Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority (SSMRCA).
I would like to highlight a few of our accomplishments; our Field Staff have continued to do a great job on flood control and keeping the flood control channels well maintained..
I cannot forget about our trails and how much improved they are over the years, many thanks to
Deane Greenwood our Trails Coordinator.
Rhonda Bateman, Drinking Water Source Protection Planning Coordinator and her staff have done a great job working with local stakeholders on the quantity and quality of our municipal drinking water sources. Also, I want to mention the success of our second biennial Children’s Source Water Festival at the Fort Creek Conservation Area.
Not to be overlooked is
Frank Tesolin ’s contribution as Technical Advisor. His skills and all the staff that help him do such a good job in guiding environmentally responsible development. I would like to thank Frank and staff for all their efforts this past year.
The Board has made some hard decisions this past year, and with the help of Linda Whalen, General Manager, I think we have made the right ones to protect the residents and the SSMRCA.
This year will bring the end of our terms for those of us on Sault Ste. Marie and Prince Township Councils. For those of us planning on running again it will be a busy year. It can be a hard decision not to run, but for those that do not return, thank you for your time and effort.
Finally, I would like to thank all of the staff that work at the SSMRCA and the Board Members for doing a great job now and in the past. I look forward to continue working with you in the future.
Thank you,
Ken Lamming, Chairman, Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority
