Stewardship Fund
Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority staff are contacting landowners with property in a Well Head Protection Area (within 100 metres of a municipal drinking water well). If you live in a Well Head Protection Area you may have been contacted by one of our staff members to participate in a telephone survey to find out what you know about the
Clean Water Act,
2006 and Source Protection Planning.
You may wonder why that is important information. It is important to all of us because water is a basic necessity of life and without it we cannot exist. Protecting the water we drink is the first step in a multi-barrier approach that will ensure that this valuable resource is protected now and in the future.
The Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority and it’s partners the City of Sault Ste. Marie, PUC Services Inc., Algoma Public Health and the Government of Ontario have produced a brochure for you to learn more about how you can help protect our local drinking water and the financial assistance available to projects that protect drinking water sources.
Please take some time and read
"Keeping Our Drinking Water Safe"
.
The Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority is here to assist you.
